A Casa Cartagena si arriva per calarsi nel fascino dell’antica
capitale andina, assapporare la gustosa cucina peruviana e
lasciarsi coccolare nella Qoya Spa.
Fu in questa antica locanda che, all’inizio del secolo scorso,
il Premio Nobel Pablo Neruda scrisse alcune delle sue più belle
poesie, e si racconta che Che Guevara fosse un ospite frequente.
Le 12 suite sono le più grandi del paese (100mq le sei Master
Suite, 120 la Suite Presidencial e 150 la Royal Suite). Dotate di
sistemi ossigenizzanti per combattere il soroche omal d’altitudine
(Cusco si trova a 3.400m sopra il livello del mare), sono tutte
diverse e coloratissime, con travi a vista, pavimenti in legno e
spezzoni di afreschi antichi. Hanno anche l’aria condizionata e il
riscaldamento, telefoni cordless, televisori LCD e grandi bagni. E
tutte si afacciano sul cortile-giardino centrale, di sera illuminato
da una enorme sfera di luce.
Lomo saltado a la Cartagena e Cui asado (porcellino d’India)
sono tra le specialità nel ristorante, e nei mesi estivi si cena sotto
unmanto di stelle nel cortile o sui balconi delle suite.
Di notte dalle grandi fnestre nella Qoya Spa (con piscina
riscaldata di 8 m, bagno turno e sauna) il quartiere bohemien
di San Blas diventa un presepe scintillante che s’inerpica sulla
montagna fno alla grande statua del Cristo Re in cima.

PabloNeruda, theNobel laureatewrote some of hismost famous
poetry in this old inn, and legendwouldhave it that CheGuevarawas
a frequent guest.
The 12 suites are the largest in Peru (100m2 the six Master Suites,

oxygensystems tocombat soroche,oraltitudesickness (Cuscois3,400
metres asl), and come in diferent sizes, with bright colours, wooden
ceiling beams and foors and original frescoes on the walls. They
also have air conditioning and central heating, cordless telephones,
fat-screen TVs, large bathrooms, and overlook the central garden-
courtyard which at night is lit by a large globe that glows like a
toppledmoon.
Lomo saltado a la Cartagena and Cui asado (guinea pig) are on
themenu in the restaurant and in the summermonths guests dine at
small tables in the courtyard or on the balconies of their suites.
The all-glass wall in the Qoya Spa (with an eight-meter heated
pool, Turkish bath and sauna) looks out on the hillside bohemian
district of SanBlaswhich, at night, becomesa twinklingcribsprawled
over the hillside under a largewhite statue of Christ.
