D come selezionate il personale?
Intervista telefonica innanzi tutto. La maggioranza viene dall'Asia
ma non solo. Cerchiamo di venire incontro a specifche esigenze
degli ospiti, per esempio un butler francese o una cameriera
flippina ecc. L'atteggiamento è fondamentale prima ancora della
formazione. E' un processo lungo e naturalmente si verifca non
abbiamo precedenti di alcun tipo dato la contiguità con ospiti di
altissimo proflo.
D Come si svolge una giornata tipica del GM dell'Emirates Palace?
Avere interviste ad esempio. Il 20%è routinema ad ogni momento
ci può essere un telefonata dello sceicco, una delegazione che
parte in idrovolante o che arriva e cosi via. Le attività sono davvero
molteplici, pensi che stiamo negoziando contratti per due o tre
anni avanti.

Come passa il suo tempo libero?
Nuotando, giocando a golf, tennis e a molti altri sport.

Progetti per il futuro, dopo la Marina?
Già poter ricevere 160 barche alla marina è una grande risultato.
Ora stiamo lavorando a una Marina Corniche con bar e ristoranti
che farà di questo luogo un punto di incontro alla moda. Poi un
kids palace, uno spazio destinato ai piccoli, un sorta palazzo nel
palazzo.
E poi, perché no, un golf per i bambini.
Q How do you select the personnel?
A telephone interview frst of all. Most of them come from Asia,
but not only. We try to accommodate the specifc demands of our
guests. For example, a French butler or a Filipino chambermaid
etc. Their attitude is fundamental even more so than their formal
preparation. It is a long process and naturally, you will see that we
have not had any problems, given the closeness with guests of a
very high profle.
Q A typical day for the Emirates Palace GM?
Having interviews, for example (laughter). Twenty percent is
routine, but at any time there could be a phone call from the
Sheik, a delegation departing or arriving in a seaplane and so
on. The activities are really varied. Just think, we are negotiating
contracts for two or three years hence.
Q How do you spend your free time?
Swimming, playing golf, tennis and many other sports.
Q Projects for the future, after the Marina?
Already being able to receive 160 boat at the marina is a great
achievement. Now we are working on a Marina Corniche with
restaurants and a marina clubhouse which will make this place
a fashionable meeting place. Then a kid›s palace, a space
dedicated to the small ones, a sort of palace in the palace.
Then, and why not? A nine-hole executive golf course.
