on capita spesso di chiedere, in un hotel, “ a che ora è la
prima colazione ?”, e sentirsi rispondere “24h”. A patto di
riuscire a trovarlo, il Weinmeister, l’hotel di cui parliamo a
Berlino, visto che sembra che lo stesso, non abbia porte né insegne.
C’è solo, al numero 2 di Weinmeister strasse, un muro tappezzato di
grafti, in cui, a guardar meglio, è ritagliata una porta con la scritta
push. Si spinge, appunto, ed ecco varcata la sogiia di un design
hotel puro, concettuale, rilassante. In cui si può ordinare un pollo in
fricassea alle 4 del mattino e mangiarlo nella sala del ristorante che
funge anche da lobby. In cui le alte poltrone e il design dei separé
bianchi sono un inno alla privacy. Nelle camere, divise quasi a meta
tra zona bagno e zona notte , re indiscusso è il letto: appositamente
progettato e realizzato a mano, ricorda le poltrone della First Class
degli aerei. Solo che qui, di fronte al letto, c’è l’ultimo tipo di iMac
27 pollici, per navigare su internet, collegarsi a Skype ed ascoltare
la musica. Non cercate l’armadio, perché non c’è; al suo posto, un
baule in versione ultradesign che si apre dall’alto e in cui riporre le
proprie cose. Le fnestre, sono a tutta apertura.

t does not happen often to ask in a hotel“what time is breakfast?”
and hear “midnight”. The Weinmeister, an extraordinary hotel in
Berlin, is difcult to locate: it has no proper door or sign. There is
only the number 2 Weinmeisterstrasse, a wall covered with graftti
in which, looking closely, one sees a door next to which “push” is
written. One pushes and voilà! We have crossed the threshold of
a pure design hotel, conceptual and relaxing. Here one can order
chicken fricassee at 4 in the morning and eat it in the restaurant,
which is also the lobby. This is a hotel where tall armchairs and
white designer room dividers are a hymn to privacy. In the rooms,
divided almost in half between the bathroom area and the night
area, the undisputed king is the bed: expressly designed and hand-
made, it recalls the seats in First-Class aboard airplanes. However,
here in front of the bed is the latest 27-inch iMac for navigating on
the Internet, connecting to skype and listening to music. Don’t
look for the closet because there isn’t one. In its place, one fnds
an ultradesign trunk that opens from the top and where guests can
place their things. The windows occupy almost the entire wall.
